It's been almost a decade in the making, but Ikea finally opened its doors in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland yesterday. Despite the lack of traffic chaos, plenty of people were at the launch event, myself included. Following prime minister Christopher Luxon cutting the ribbon at 11, the queue of people was let inside to shop the aisles of flatpack furniture, homewares and of course, the Swedish meatballs.

Regional tourism organisation Love Taupō has seen Ikea's launch as the perfect opportunity for a new campaign. They're using Ikea's iconic colours and some tongue in cheek messaging to encourage people to pay Taupō a visit, says general manager Patrick Dault.

Crusaders and creative agency Plato have launched a new brand platform, One of Us, as the Super Rugby team gears up for its 30th anniversary and the opening of its new home stadium, Te Kaha (One New Zealand stadium) in 2026.

Juliet Peterson previously led Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ networks and championed locally created content. Following Sky's recent acquisition of Warner Bros, Peterson shares with StopPress how she is now helping shape Sky’s future by leading the business division as chief business officer.

Earlier this week, independent media agency Together celebrated December 1 as Independents' Day as the new government procurement rules came into effect. Find out more about what this means here.

Before we go, Independent Media Agencies New Zealand has celebrated 2025 in style, with an end of year event at MediaWorks where it handed out the newly created HEROES awards.
