On Tuesday Strategy Design and Advertising announced it would be merging with fellow Christchurch agency Simpatico Advertising. We chat to Strategy Group managing partner Geoff Cranko about the decision, and how the integration between the agencies is working out so far.
Metservice launched its new redesigned website in December, aiming to make Kiwis’ weather needs more easily accessible. The redesign included new opportunities for targeted advertising that allowed brands to advertise next to specific weather types. And interactive manager at Metservice, Craig Delaney described it as being “like Google AdWords, but instead of bidding on words you buy space next to a weather type.” And, following on from a similar contextual campaign last year, Hellers has again teamed up with Christchurch ad agency Simpatico to launch another meaty weather-based campaign on the site.
The latest newspaper readership and circ figures might not be much to boast about, but there’s plenty of life left in The Press according to advertising creative agency Simpatico. And to prove that point, it recently launched its direct marketing campaign ‘smell the numbers’, whereby the offices of 100 North Island media agencies were exposed to a pungent smell in a bid to encourage them to smell the positive readership numbers the newspaper has been generating.
Marc Ellis has carved out a good niche as a loveable Kiwi rogue and, as a result, he’s certainly not unaccustomed to working as a corporate mascot. Most recently that’s meant work for Toyota’s Top to Bottom and HRV and now Christchurch agency Simpatico has harked back to his mischievous laddish heritage in a campaign for classic Kiwi brand Swanndri.
The oft-stated wonder of the online realm for advertisers is the utility it provides and the creative opportunities it affords. And while that utility isn’t often harnessed as effectively as it could be, a campaign to launch Hellers’ new range of burger patties by Christchurch agency Simpatico, which recently rebranded from UMC, shows what can be done with a bit of nifty thinking.
It’s been a tumultuous time for our Christchurch friends of late. But the team from UMC advertising is feeling pretty positive about the future after a surprisingly good year on the business front and a recent rebrand to Simpatico.
