It’s the night the magazine industry comes together to, as ACP head honcho Paul Dykzeul might say, indulge in a bit of gratuitous back patting. Or, as the MPA might say, reward the publications, publishers, editors, designers, sales folk and contributors who toil away on their various titles. And it was Good and Cuisine’s Sarah Nicholson that reigned supreme on the night, winning the top magazine and editor of the year prizes respectively.

Good Magazine’s December/January 2011 issue has beaten off fierce competition to be hailed as winner of The Maggies: Magazine Cover of the Year 2011. The cover features an image of a handmade pohutukawa wreath evoking the Kiwi Christmas spirit, and beat titles across all five categories, to be crowned overall Magazine Cover of the Year, as well as winning the Lifestyle category.
Tangible Media announced that it would be making some changes to Good magazine back in October. Well, the makeover is now complete, with a fresh editorial direction from new editor Sarah Heeringa and a snazzy redesign by art director Sally Fullam. And, freegans rejoice, for the reluanch edition of the mag that goes on sale on Monday 6 December also comes with a free copy of very handy Good Shopping Handbook.
The winds of change have blown for two titles in the Tangible Media stable, with the rejigged weekly Groove Guide set to launch with a renewed pop cultural zest and a new but familiar editor at the helm, as well as a relaunch and an editorial reshuffle at sustainable living magazine Good.
