Mad Men meets The Office? Stem Creative sends its satirical web series about agency life into the wild

Stem Creative has released the first three episodes of its six-part satirical web series called Agency, just a few short months after the creators came up with the idea. And the result is a humorous look at the trials and tribulations of the advertising industry through the eyes of three “hapless but genuine and enthusiastic marketing wannabes” at a small creative marketing agency in Wellington.

There are plenty of examples of brands being integrated into TV shows these days. And plenty of examples of fun being poked at the ad industry. But Wellington-based video strategy and production company Stem Creative is aiming to combine those two things in a new satirical web series called Agency that follows three “hapless but genuine and enthusiastic” employees at a small creative marketing agency in Wellington and, as Stem founder and director Ben Forman says, “pulls the veil off the ad industry”.

Whittaker’s has a history of innovation, both in terms of its new products and its approach to marketing. We were big fans of its amazing chocolate website, which may or may not have provided some inspiration for Cadbury’s Google+ page. And while it doesn’t seem to be an official production (yet), a few chocolate lovers decided to turn something else usually deemed inedible into something much more enticing by screenprinting Whittaker’s chocolate designs onto wafer paper.
