Although the Clios has come to be inextricably linked to the hot mess that was the 1991 edition, the awards show continues to attract some of the best creative work from around the world—and this year was no different. Kiwi agencies were again among the winners, with Colenso BBDO picking up a gold for DB Brewtroleum and Y&R winning a pair of silvers for Burger King's McWhopper. We look at some of the other campaigns these Kiwi efforts are sharing the limelight with.
Marketing, advertising & media intelligence
Last night, the denizens of marketing donned their finest robes and descended on the Langham for a night of heavy drinking, trophy collecting and not paying attention to MC Te Radar. And while the story didn't necessarily end as a fairytale for everyone, the pictures indicate that all those in attendance had a blast. Here's a gallery of some of the moments captured during the evening.
The finalists of this year’s TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards have been announced after a record number of entries were received. It won’t be long until champagne-filled glasses will once again be clinked together at the Langham, celebrating the best of marketing over the past year.
After a successful week at Cannes nabbing a Grand Prix and a Titanium Lion for ‘Brewtroleum’, Colenso BBDO has now won Creative Agency of the Year 2016 at this year's Caples Awards, with Clemenger BBDO and Young & Shand also coming away with an award each.

It’s undeniable that the public relations industry is having a growing influence on the media industry, despite it not being in the forefront. Last month, the New Zealand Herald recognised Deborah Pead, from Pead PR, as one of Auckland’s most influential women, yet “she wields this influence so nicely that it is almost unnoticeable". And while PR folk are usually providing stage directions from the wings, they take centre stage every year during the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) Awards.

Skinny, and its customers, have plenty to celebrate this month with it taking out the Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers award and the Consumer NZ People’s choice award 2016.
For this year's edition of the Webby Awards, the organisers of the event put the finalists to work by asking them to produce a visual interpretation of the phrase 'The internet can't be stopped'. And these creative efforts have now been turned into a series of posters being used to promote the event. As is to be expected, every poster takes a slightly different approach to interpreting the phrase, and skeletons, planets, graffiti and a range of surreal images now stand as testament to the creativity that the event celebrates every year.
2015 Magazine Media Awards: NZ Life & Leisure takes top honour, Bauer lands biggest haul and Ben Fahy claims all the credit
Last night, laptops across the magazine industry were closed a little earlier than usual as journalists, publishers, editors and sales people headed to Shed 10 to attend the 2015 Magazine Media Awards to celebrate another year of storytelling across print, online and events. 44 awards were handed out over the course of the event, and it was a particularly good night for NZ Life & Leisure and StopPress/NZ Marketing's Ben Fahy.
It would be fair to that the Kiwi brand is somewhat synonymous with the colour black (or shade if you want to be pedantic). Not only do Kiwis have a penchant for donning black clothing (and other dark hues), with several online articles devoted to the fact, our national sports teams also rock it. The announcement of the finalists of this year's Best Design Awards revealed a familiar thread – Kiwi graphic designers who work magic with the beloved hue.
Snapchat was an unofficial star of the annual Social Media Awards last night with many brands citing it as a great marketing platform to engage with their audiences, including the Blogger of the Year and People’s Choice Award winner NZGirl.
The magazine industry, like all other 'traditional' media, is adapting to a very different environment. And so are the magazine industry's awards, with The Magazine Publishers Association adding new categories, simplifying entry, changing the judging process and renaming it the Magazine Media Awards for 2015.
What's that smell? It's international ad awards season! But before everyone heads to Cannes to expand/subtract their minds, agencies were looking to New York as the results of the One Show were announced. And Colenso BBDO has led the way for New Zealand, picking up a gold, silver and two bronze pencils.

The Webby Awards, which the New York Times has described as “The internet’s highest honour” and referred to by others as the Oscars of the internet, has come around again with nominees being announced last week. And there are a few talented Kiwi contenders, including Colenso BBDO, DDB, Special Group, Springload and Clemenger BBDO.
