‘What do you do for a living?’

We’ve all been unemployed at some point in our lives and probably will be unemployed again. And sure, when we’re younger it’s socially acceptable. But as we move through our twenties and beyond there is more expected of us, and when in between jobs (or just.. without one) it’s never fun to be asked what you do to pay the bills. That’s what these ads for Careers 24 address.

It’s difficult in this day and age to be employed. Jobs are scarce, degrees don’t mean as much as they used to and it’s very difficult to get a job doing something you’re actually qualified for.

In these ads by Ogilvy for a job-seeking website, men and women mumble, stuff their faces with food, make up unintelligible job titles and avoid eye contact when asked the question ‘What do you do for a living?’. The results are great, and would definitely resonate with any young person struggling to find work.
