Australian department store Myer is showing there’s nothing like being together at Christmas in a gorgeous animation featuring an Elf in search of new friends.
Created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Aardman Animation, the video watches as Elf, a Christmas tree decoration grows frustrated with his fellow decorations including a reindeer, an angel and a house mouse. It appears they lack some focus when decorating so Elf leaves to find decorations that take Christmas seriously. Along the way, he finds all sorts of decorations who all have a different feeling about Christmas and in the end, Eld realises his friends are the ones he should be with.
Adding to the heart-warming nature of the campaign is the fact that for every share of the video on Facebook, Myer will donate $1 to the Salvation Army.
And beyond the video, the loveable characters also star in a printed storybook The Completely and Utterly, absolutely perfect Christmas, that is brought to life through an augmented reality app.
Elf and his friends were introduced in 2015, in a tale about how they left the tree to go Christmas shopping.
Last year there as an equally delightful spot about how the characters set about repairing one of the stars from the Southern Cross after it fell from the sky.
