Who's it for: Z Energy by Assignment Group and Flying Fish

Why we like it: Z asked Kiwis what they wanted from a petrol station before it arrived on the scene around two-and-a-half years ago. And this new ad sticks to what has been a successful formula and keeps on drumming home the fact that it's still listening with

Who's it for: Fisher & Paykel by Colenso BBDO and Finch 

Why we like it: Dogs in advertising. A nigh-on fool-proof strategy. 

Who's it for: Yours by Jae Morrison and Tom Paine

Why we like it: A novel, beautifully shot and slightly anarchic take on the typical product demonstration video.

Whittaker's divides the court of public opinion – but all for a good cause

On Monday, Whittaker’s launched its latest novelty chocolate-lolly mash up with a chocolatey answer to retro bakesale treat coconut ice. The Coconut Ice Surprise chocolate has a twist though, 20c from each block goes to Plunket – a charity which New Zealanders agree is a worthy cause. However, to relate the chocolate to the charity, Whittaker's has built the campaign around baby gender reveal parties, causing a backlash from the public who argue gender norms have expanded beyond blue for boys and pink for girls.
