TVCs of the Week: 15 January

Why we like it: There’s been plenty of discussion about TVNZ’s new current affairs offering at 7pm, which is set to start on 4 February. It’s slated as being much lighter and more whimsical than Close Up and Campbell Live (which is currently running a campaign saying it’s time for answers). And this colourful, energetic promo, which was created by TVNZ’s inhouse agency Blacksand, fits that brief nicely. But as one witty Facebook commenter quipped, they forgot to mention TVNZ7.

Why we like it: The moment has passed, of course (and as most sane folk expected, it passed without incident), and while there was a bit of Doomsday overkill late last year, this simple, entertaining number stood out. You can’t go wrong with a dog, a lilo and some well-founded confidence.

Why we like it: Probably wise to watch this one after work, but the idea of the ‘regretgasm‘—”an unprotected orgasm that may potentially lead to feelings of regret, sorrow, contraction of a sexually transmitted disease, or an unexpected pregnancy”—seems to be pretty common among Kiwi lasses. So keeping things spicy seems like a good way of staying relevant and getting women to think harder about their safe sex practices.
