Trustpower turns Wellington fountain into a stage for ballerinas

Trustpower has taken over Wellington’s Carter Fountain with a projection of two ballerinas dancing excerpts from Fokine’s ‘The Dying Swan’ and Mário Rádačovsky’s ‘Black Swan White Swan’.

The video of the ballerinas is 20 meters high and appears on the fountain just after sunset.

Developed by video artist Jeremy Brick working with Royal NZ Ballet dancers Abigail Boyle and Sara Garbowski, the projection is part of The Performance Arcade 2019, a free festival of live arts on Wellington’s Waterfront.

This is the second year Trustpower has been principal partner for the Performance Arcade and its marketing communications manager, Carolyn Schofield, says it wanted to present an experiential event that added to visitors’ Performance Arcade experience and would not otherwise be possible.

“The video projection of the dancers brings a touch of magic to Oriental Bay and we hope people will take a few minutes out of their busy lives to enjoy this beautiful sight.”

The installation runs every evening until 3 March from around 8.45pm to 11pm (weather permitting).
