KFC and Ogilvy & Mather have taken a late night joyride with a group of young at heart octogenarians to build on the ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ platform.
Set to the tune ‘Ridin’ by Chamillionaire and shot in the style of a hip-hop video by Scoundrel Films, the spot follows the group as they stop at a KFC drive-through on their mobility scooters before heading out to light up the streets with their under-scooter neons.
They’re seen pulling wheelies, eyeing up younger boy racers and doing doughnuts.
Ogilvy & Mather executive creative director Regan Grafton says the combination of chicken, mobility scooters and a classic hip-hop track makes for a memorable ad.
Marketing director at Restaurant Brands Clark Wilson added the spot captures what ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ is all about: showing KFC as a catalyst for good times and letting go amongst friends
“Paired with a music track that’s sure to make you smile, we think the ad will resonate strongly with our audience,” he said.
The ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ platform launched last year with a dancing cleaner in a spot set to another recognisable tune, ‘Hungry Eyes’ by Eric Carmen. It was followed by a competition asking KFC fans to show off their moves to win a year’s supply of KFC.
