These are the people in your neighbourhood…

… And just look at how their fancy new titles glisten.

Let’s hear it for the Boyes

Justin Boyes has been appointed to the newly created role of general manager of marketing for HRV.

Boyes has over 15 years experience working in all areas of marketing and promotions, from brand and product innovation to loyalty and promotions initiatives, including a role managing the marketing across New Zealand and Australia for book and stationery chain Whitcoulls.

Boyes’ role at HRV, which was established in 2003 and has become New Zealand’s largest heating ventilation business with 400 employees across 20 franchises, will see him working closely with the company’s external agencies to maximise marketing, oversee product to market and leverage HRV customer relations.

HRV also expanded into Australia in 2008 and it now has four franchises there.

Toby or not Toby

DDB NZ executive creative director Toby Talbot has been chosen to head a new regional executive creative council that aims to unite DDB creative specialists from around the region.

The council has been established by DDB Group Asia Pacific, which just took network of the year honours at the Spikes Asia awards, to drive DDB’s new strategic position (it calls it ‘social creativity’) and share knowledge across the network.

John Zeigler, chairman and chief executive of DDB Group Asia Pacific, says Talbot’s experience and reputation in the industry brought him to the helm.

“We have realised that to continue the DDB Group’s success we need to consider how, as a worldwide network, we can learn from each other to gain greater notoriety, and what better way to do this than to put Toby at the forefront,” Zeigler says. He has been among the top three most awarded Australasian creative directors every year for the last five years in Campaign Brief’s top 100 CD rankings and is ranked number one executive creative director in the world over the last 10 years on bestadsontv.com. It makes sense for Toby to now use his skills to hone the global network’s social creative product.”

The regional executive council will include DDB and Tribal DDB specialists from different countries.

New Aegism

Sean O’Brien has been appointed as regional chief client officer of Aegis Media Asia Pacific, a new role within the company, to drive the growth of international clients and new business.

O’Brien will report directly to Aegis Media APAC chief executive Nick Waters and will also join the executive leadership team.

He will be required to take on the leadership of Aegis Media’s multinational clients in the region, including Nokia, adidas, Philips, Fox, Beiersdorf, BMW, and ANZ Bank. He will also hold responsibility for new business development across Asia Pacific. And he might also have to a few more clients to deal with, after Aegis confirmed its purchase of Mitchell Communication Group for A$363 million. Not only that, Harold Mitchell, executive chairman of the Mitchell Communication Group, will be taking over all operations of Aegis Media’s Pacific business as chairman.

O’Brien returns from London/EMEA and Omnicom Media Group, where he held roles as regional/global account director and acting managing director of M2M International. He was also chief executive of OMG Thailand.

“Sean has a proven record of success, as an international player in the UK, Europe and the US, and during his five years in Asia. We are delighted that he has joined our team as we embark on the next phase of our growth in the region,” Waters says.
