The sweet taste of acquisition

Aquisition tastes good, especially if you are ACP Media. The publisher has announced its purchase of mass market food magazine Recipes+ from publisher Knockout Media, in a deal both parties describe as “the perfect fit”.

When it came to deciding on who to sell the magazine too, the publisher naturally shopped around.

“When we decided to sell, we talked to several publishers, but felt most comfortable with ACP’s approach to the magazine and its commitment to the values that have made it successful,” says managing director of Knockout Media, Roger Nitz .

ACP chief executive Paul Dykzeul says the publisher had been admiring the magazine for some time.

“The acquisition of Recipes+ is part of our long-term strategy to be a force in food publishing in New Zealand.”

The title ads to the growing list of food orientated magazines owned by ACP, which include Taste, Gourmet Traveller and Good Food.

Recipes+ was origianally launched in Australia in 2003 as low cover priced quarterly, aimed at budget conscious cooks. In 2008, a New Zealand edition of the magazine was launched, focusing on Kiwi content. The magazine currently audits more than 20, 000 copies per month.
