Talented New Zealanders are banding together to help the Australian Bushfires through a range of Trade Me auctions

New Zealanders, rejoice: here’s a useful way to help the Australian bushfires. Auctions4aussie is an initiative by New Zealand writer Emily Writes that has banded together a bunch of well-known Kiwis to auction off their time and skills, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Australian bushfires. One of the auctions up for grabs is a social media masterclass with content marketing guru Cassie Roma, who has been behind the communications for brands such as Air New Zealand, ANZ Bank and NZME for over a decade now.

The auctions vary from attending a gig in Auckland with John Campbell, watch an episode of Westside being filmed with the stars of the show, a dinner party with Kanoa Lloyd and Jesse Mulligan, a dance lesson and meal with Mike McRoberts and a more industry-specific social media masterclass with Cassie Roma.

Roma will be drawing on the help of friends – travel influencer and tradie Logan Dodds, as well as musicians Jupiter Project – to give three 30 to 45 minute sessions, either online or offline.

All of the proceeds from each auction will be going towards Red Cross Australia’s Bushfire Relief Fund.

Check out the auction here. All of the Auctions4aussie close this Friday, 17 January.

While the Australian bushfires have been undisputedly devastating, it’s also shown the power the online world has in banding people together in the face of a natural disaster.

From comedian Celeste Barber surpassing $50 million in fundraising for the bushfires on Facebook, the most ever raised on the platform, to the various initiatives promoting environmental organisations like WIRES who are helping Koalas and other wildlife, word about the disaster has been spread far and wide, with huge amounts being raised online to help Australia in its worst bushfire season ever.

As well as this, Instagram account Spendwiththem is promoting locally made products that you can buy from towns and businesses affected by the bushfires, as business will take one of the hardest hits.

It’s My Shout is also helping promote local business by registering them on its marketplace. It gives people worldwide the chance to send a coffee to local, pay for a prescription, pay for breakfast and lunch for someone and more.
