Sponsor post: Ostro embraces the silly season, invites Kiwis to share culinary goodness this Christmas

When Christmas break approaches, it’s not the fairy lights, wrapping paper or creepy Queen Street Santa that Aucklanders look forward to most. It’s the promise of decadence, of jettisoning diets and CrossFit, and of eating exactly what they want to for a few weeks.

Generally, the highlight of this period is a massive Christmas lunch, typified by a honey glazed ham and an adornment of other culinary delights. But then in a flash, it’s all over and the wait for the following year’s Christmas commences again.

So, in an effort to remedy the statute of culinary limitations that says decadence ends with Christmas ham, Ostro has created a series of Christmas vouchers, each of which carries the promise of more taste bud-appeasing goodness to follow.

And rather than simply taking a sharpie to random pieces of paper torn out of the chef’s notebook, Ostro has individually letter-pressed each voucher and presented it in a classic blue envelope, quite befitting of the fine-dining establishment.

The vouchers offer three different options: standard monetary vouchers in denominations of $50, $100 or $200; an Ostro High Tea, which offers three tiers of deliciousness and glass of Veuve Clicquot each for two people; or the celebratory gift of one of three different champagne options.

So let the culinary celebrations continue a little longer for someone special this year.

  • Champagn options: NV Nicolas Feuillatte for $130, NV Veuve Clicquot for $145, or 2004 Dom Perignon for $460.
  • To purchase in time for Christmas, email [email protected] or phone +64 9 302 9888. For an additional $10 Ostro can arrange delivery via NZ Registered Post (signature required upon delivery) or alternatively you can pick them up from the front desk at Ostro.
