Special celebrates 10th birthday, shouts industry Special X brew

This year, Special Group is blowing out 10 candles and to celebrate, it’s buying everyone in the industry a Special X brew to say ‘thanks’.

Partner/ECD Tony Bradbourne says it wants to raise a glass and thank everyone to everyone who has ever worked at the agency, helped bring its ideas to life, shown it support or even motivated it to be better by beating it.

“We started 10 years ago with one desk, three chairs and no clients, and a decade later we are proudly the New Zealand Agency of the Year. We couldn’t have done that without the help of a lot of people, clients and actually other agencies. So the least we can do is buy everyone a beer, or two, or quite possibly 5,436*.”

The free beer will flow at Special from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday 28 November.

Whittaker's divides the court of public opinion – but all for a good cause

On Monday, Whittaker’s launched its latest novelty chocolate-lolly mash up with a chocolatey answer to retro bakesale treat coconut ice. The Coconut Ice Surprise chocolate has a twist though, 20c from each block goes to Plunket – a charity which New Zealanders agree is a worthy cause. However, to relate the chocolate to the charity, Whittaker's has built the campaign around baby gender reveal parties, causing a backlash from the public who argue gender norms have expanded beyond blue for boys and pink for girls.
