Spark brings on board a new GM of marketing

Today Spark Home, Mobile and Business appointed Clive Ormerod as its new general manager of marketing.

Ormerod previously had a seven-year stint at Nike where he held a number of key senior commercial and marketing roles, a release says.

Most recently Ormerod was on the Nike executive team for the UK and Ireland as senior marketing director, responsible for all retail, brand communications, digital marketing and consumer experiences, across one of Nike’s most critical markets globally, the release says.

“We are seriously excited to have someone of Clive’s calibre moving into this crucial role for our business,” Spark CEO Home, Mobile and Business Jason Paris said. “As we approach our first anniversary as Spark we are looking to take our customers’ experiences, our commercial results and our brand to the next level, and Clive is just the man for the job.”

He has shown at Nike that he can lead teams to success in fast, complex and competitive markets with a relentless focus on the end consumer, Paris said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming him back to New Zealand – and welcoming him to Spark – later this year.”

Ormerod said: “Spark has an inspiring vision. I am excited by the opportunity and potential of the brand and business, and I can’t wait to join the team and get started.”

The company was on a journey of change, he said. “where our future success will come by always starting with the consumer, and through continuous innovation in technology and digital services. I really look forward to the role that I can play in that.”

Ormerod will start his new role at Spark on 2 November this year.
