MediaWorks pushes the return of its Friday night favourites

For a large number of Kiwis, settling in for some couch time on Friday night is a weekly ritual. And MediaWorks is aiming to draw attention to the return of 7 Days and Jono & Ben at 10 this Friday with some online content and other fun and games.

Not surprisingly, the talents of some of the 7 Days panellists have been put to good use and they’ve been contributing original pieces of content to the Facebook page as part of the week-long countdown.

The campaign has also involved a bungy jumper in a seven suit, a plane (as one clever Facebook commentor asked: “Are you going to re-run this promotion when it is only 7 hours away?), dancing fans and radio giveaways.

Returning right after 7 Days is Jono & Ben at 10.

They’re also doing an ‘Ask Me Anything‘, something MediaWorks has done with Paul Henry and Dai Henwood recently. Head of marketing and publicity Amanda Wilson says they’ve been really popular with viewers.

The pair also managed to get on Graham Norton’s red chair on their recent OE and this show went to air in the UK recently (it will be part of this year’s season).

As for the ratings, Nielsen stats (all 5+) show 7 Days averaged 343,000 viewers for 8.4 percent share in 2012, 326,100 for a 7.9 percent share in 2013 and 322,000 for 7.7 percent share in 2014.

Jono & Ben at Ten averaged 218,300 for a 5.3 percent share in 2012, 294,000 for a 7.1 percent share in 2013 and 274,000 for a 6.6 percent share in 2014.
