Sean matches Bevan, as NAB announces expanded Newspaper Ad Awards

DB Export's 'The Wine is Over' campaign by Colenso BBDO has won plenty of fans–and a few overly serious, wine-loving detractors. And after Bevan claimed the NAB Newspaper ad of the month title in March, his old mate Sean has taken a win in the May round.

The May judges were James Tucker, Colenso BBDO; Nick Smith, DraftFCB; Connan James, Whybin\TBWA; and Iain MacMillan from Special Group. And James commented: “I love this work. I love the strategy, the photography, the wry sense of humour, the engaging copy.”

May’s winning creative team receive $250 cash and their ad will also be sponsored into the 2013 Axis Awards by NAB. It will also be a finalist in the 2011/12 $10,000 Newspaper Ad of Year competition, which has been given a bit of a spruce up this year and set to become The 2012 Advertising Awards.

Money-hungry creative types will be pleased to learn the $10,000 Newspaper Ad of the Year prize, which is thought to be the Australasian industry's biggest cash prize, is still up for grabs, but there are five new categories to enter.
