Resn and HP team up to visualise sound

Synesthesia, or the stimulation of one sense triggering another sense, is a rare and fascinating condition for most people. But thanks to HP’s latest campaign with Wellington-based digital agency Resn, sight and sound have finally become one.

‘Sound in Colour’ works by capturing the audio from your computer or phone and translating it into a visual spectacle of colour. Abstract blooms of red, blue and yellow grow depending on the sounds you make, resulting in a one-of-a-kind artwork available to print off at the end.

The website is part of HP’s wider ‘Reinvent Giving’ campaign produced in conjunction with UK agency AMV BBDO to promote its new HP Spectre x360.

It saw the release of a recent video ‘Brothers’ which tells the story of two siblings, one a musician and the other deaf. In an effort to enable his deaf sibling to experience the joys of music, the former comes up with an elaborate plan to give his brother a taste of what music can feel like.
