Ogilvy has won the August edition of the NAB’s Newspaper Ad of the Month award for its Auckland Zoo press ad, which used a bit of heavenly humour to commemorate the one year anniversary of Kashin the elephant’s death.
The August Ad of the Month judges were Chris Schofield, DraftFCB and Ant Salmon, Big Communications. “I can’t remember the last time I was moved to tears by a fat joke. Awesome!” commented Schofield. “It’s nicely put together and gave us a smile.”
Ogilvy’s winning creative team Darran Wong-Kam and Ben Pegler receive $250 cold, hard cash and the ad will be sponsored by the NAB into the 2011 Axis Awards. It will also be a finalist in the 2011 $10,000 Newspaper Ad of Year competition.
Any ad that’s run in any newspaper around the country is eligible to enter the competition. Email [email protected] for competition details. And to view all the finalists in the current Newspaper Ad of the Year series visit the NAB website.
