The judges for News Works’ Newspaper Ad of the Month competition didn’t deem any entries worthy of winning in either August or September, but three ads—DDB’s Reflect, Ogilvy & Mather’s Auckland Council Elections, and bcg2’s Ezetrol—were given special mentions in September, earning them one point each on the Agency League table.
This moves both Ogilvy & Mather and DDB up to seven points on the Agency League Table, meaning they are both still tied in the lead.
The judges—Andrew Sims, Republik; Owen Bryson, Sugar & Partners; Melina Fiolitakis, DraftFCB; and Ben Chandler, Federation—commented that the Ezetrol ad “photography was well executed”, the Auckland Council Elections ad got straight to the point and was a good campaign, and DDB’s Reflect ad had charm with good copy that didn’t go on too long and “targeted a non-typical market in a different way”.
In case you missed out on the first half of the season, here’s Special Group’s rundown showing what happened.
Any ad that’s run in any newspaper in New Zealand is eligible to enter the competition. To enter your ad for next month, go to agencyleague.co.nz/enter.
