New Zealand Steel puts creative account under DDB’s roof

New Zealand Steel has appointment DDB as the creative agency for both NZ Steel and its various brands including Colorsteel, Steltech and AXXIS.

The incumbent was Harvey Cameron.

The appointment will see DDB leading all advertising communications across the business.

Sarah Pepworth, NZ Steel’s head of marketing, says the business has some great projects in the pipeline.

“The team at DDB really connected with the importance of what we do, the value of how we do it, and how we’d like that expressed to the New Zealand public.”

According to Nielsen, NZ Steel’s ad spend has dropped year-on-year since June 2015. In the June 2015 to May 2016 year, its spend was $2,697,388 and in the June 2017 to May 2018 year its spend was $1,815,999.

The first major piece of work in production is a Colorsteel brand campaign, launching later this year.

“We’re really looking forward to unveiling what the team are working on for Colorsteel; there’s been a huge amount of thought, consideration and passion put into this both internally and at DDB,” adds Pepworth.

Justin Mowday, DDB NZ’s CEO, looks forward to driving growth for the business through effective communications building fame, feeling and fluency.

“NZ Steel is a very special brand. What it represents, its contribution to New Zealand and innovation within domestic production and export is fantastic. It’s always exciting to work with a business that feels integral to who we are as a country.”
