New Destination Rotorua campaign gets in touch with nature

Rotorua’s connection to the natural world is on show in a new campaign for Destination Rotorua by KingSt Advertising and Marketing.

The campaign highlights the rich and moving experiences that can found in Rotorua with each one relating back to nature. Directed by UK-based Kiwi Daniel Nikolaison, the hope is it shows Rotorua as a unique destination to visit and live in.

In front of the camera is a mix of local talent and visitors and supporting them is a track composed by Rotorua-based percussion musician Michael Baker.

The music was infused with a range of Māori vocal elements, performed by 17-year-old Wharerakau Stirling from Palmerston North and her uncle, Rotorua local Inia Maxwell.

As a member of the Te Arawa iwi, Maxwell also features in the video with his son, performing a taiaha demonstration and served as the cultural advisor on the project, to ensure the values of kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga were represented throughout.
