She knows a heck of a lot about newspapers and radio, now recently retired Joan Withers is stepping into the director’s boardroom at TVNZ. She replaces Phillip Melchior whose term recently expired.
Withers was chief executive of Fairfax Media from 2005 to June this year, when she retired from executive life. However, she retains directorship of Auckland International Airport and was appointed to the board of Mighty River Power in August.
Ms Withers was the CEO of The Radio Network until 1997 before becoming a professional company director on the boards of Warehouse Group, Meridian Energy, Tourism Holdings and Feltex Carpets.
This year she was the recipient of the CAANZ Media Excellence Award.
The tail end of 2018 brought with it some major announcements between media companies and the booming out-of-home market.
