MAGNET attracts more accolades

magnet adImmigration New Zealand (INZ) has been announced as a finalist in the public sector category of 2009’s UK Chartered Institute of Marketing Marketing Excellence awards, the only New Zealand organisation to be recognised.

Mary Robbins, Director of Rapport,  the agency of record for INZ, says it’s been an honour to work on such a challenging and rewarding strategy that has measurable and real long term benefits for New Zealand.

“Everyone’s efforts at the Department of Labour have paid off to make MAGNET a success,” she says. “While we all look forward to the announcement of winners, being the only finalist from New Zealand is an accomplishment in and of itself.”

The Chartered Institute of Marketing is recognised as the UK’s leading international professional marketing body and the awards receive hundreds of entries from around the world.

The Skilled Migrant Marketing Programme – MAGNET – has also won the American Chamber of Commerce award (NZ), the Marketing Association’s gold RSVP Award (NZ), two Promo Interactive gold awards (US), three IABC (International Association of Business Communications) Gold Quill awards (US), the International Direct Marketing Association Echo Leader Award (US) and the TVNZ/NZ Marketing category winner Award (NZ).

Launched in October 2007 as a trial initiative, MAGNET uses internet advertising to target highly-defined potential migrants, drive them to a website and get them to register their interest in living and working in New Zealand. INZ then identifies those registrants with skills that are in high demand and uses this database to connect them with NZ employers at no charge to either party.

The Marketing Excellence Awards will be presented in London 17 February 2010.
