Kiwis take home silver (and gold) ware at PromaxBDA ANZ Awards

Brandspank, the Rialto Channel, TVNZ Blacksand, Sky Television and MediaWorks were among those flying the Kiwi flag at the PromaxBDA ANZ Awards last weekend. The awards honour top performers in on-air promotion, branding and advertising.

This year Brandspank took a gold award for Channel Brand of the Year and silver in the same category. It took Rialto Channel’s newly-designed logo and identity (created by Interbrand New Zealand) and designed and produced new on-air imagery.

“Our new look reflects the very essence of what the channel is all about and marks the continuing innovation and improvement delivered from a small, highly competent and passionate team,” says general manager of Rialto Channel, Roger Wyllie.

Brandspank was also recognised for its work creating the identity and brand imagery for Jones Channel, with a silver for channel brand of the year.

Brandspank also won silvers for its work on Igloo, for Best Television Image Campaign and another for Jones, for Best On Air Identity.

As well as Channel Brand of the Year, Rialto Channel won gold awards for Best Print Ad and Best Outdoor for The Storyteller. “To win the top Channel Brand of the Year award, and three gold awards overall, is a bold endorsement for Rialto Channel, who in a near 15-year partnership with Sky Television have continued to innovate and strive to meet the challenges of an ever-changing television landscape,” says Rialto Channel CEO Andrew Hawken.

Hawken thanked DDB New Zealand for creating the print and outdoor campaign, which he said “reflected our diverse range of content, from Oscar-winning films with A-list celebrities to the best hand-picked cinema and documentaries from around the world”.

TVNZ Blacksand took gold awards for Best Drama Campaign for Shortland St’s winter season and Best Integrated Marketing for its campaign for Agent Anna.

Its silver awards were Best Outdoor for Mitre 10 Dream Home, Best Brand Design for TV2 and Best Traditional Animation for U Late. It also won bronzes for Best Image Campaign for On demand mobile, Best Brand Design for U and Something for Nothing: Tune 2012.
