IABNZ sees consistent growth in advertising revenue for H1

IABNZ has released its H1 results, posting an advertising revenue growth of almost 13 percent. This growth is consistent with the second quarter of this year and the same time in 2018, reaching the same 12.7 percent in advertising revenue for the year-on-year basis.

The data is drawn from the IABNZ’s Digital Advertising Revenue Report released today by the IABNZ and Baker Tilly Staples Rodway. The growth was led by Search, with a total of $359.1 million in H1, up 15.7 percent from the same half last year.

Classifieds and Directories followed, with a total of $107.9 million in H1, up 13.6 percent on the same half last year, and up 8.3 percent in Q2.

Total Display revenue grew by 3.6 percent in the first half of the year, with a total of $77.4 million, however, Q2 2019 growth was up 4.5 percent on the same quarter last year.  

Total Display growth was underpinned by Audio in H1 with significant growth of 75.0 percent on the same period last year, followed by Sponsorship at 50.0 percent. Audio and Sponsorship also dominated in Q2 with respective growth of 47.5 percent and 29.6 percent on the same period last year.

The largest shift in Total Display variance by advertising category was Travel and Accomodation, recording a year-on-year increase of 324 percent in H1, whereas in Q2 2019 Real Estate led, with a staggering 541 percent on the same period last year.   

Total Mobile (Smartphone and Tablet) grew by almost 17.3 percent in H1 2019.

Social revenue grew 9.0 percent in Q2 2019 on the same period last year.
