Getting Vile: Adshel nabs new sales manager

Adshel recently moved back to Parnell after spending a few years in a city office. But that’s not all that’s new: as of next week it will also have a new sales manager, with ex-MediaWorks, New Zealand Rugby Union and Oggi man Nick Vile proving to be the standout candidate in the search to find a replacement for Pauline Hanton, who recently announced the arrival of her new shopper marketing offering Hypermedia.

A qualified oenologist, Vile started out in the wine business, but says couldn’t resist an offer to work as sponsorship manager for the New Zealand Rugby Union. In 2001, he moved to TV and spent seven years with MediaWorks, where he held the roles of head of sport sales and general manager regional sale for TV3/C4.

In the past two years, Vile was general manager for Oggi Advertising, where he focused on the development of digital out of home advertising.

“It goes without saying that Adshel is considered the most inspiring player in the outdoor media market and I look forward to working with the Adshel team, its clients and business partners,” he says.

Vile will take up responsibility for Adshel’s media sales, as well as leadership of the sales, campaign planning and business development teams. And he will report to Peter Charlton, Adshel’s sales director for Australia and New Zealand.

“Nick is a true veteran in the media industry and his recent experience in the outdoor advertising sector is obviously of enormous value for us,” Charlton says. “Moreover, with the 2011 Rugby World Cup at our doorstep, we are confident that Nick can leverage his previous experiences in developing and implementing TV3’s sales strategy for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, as well as managing the New Zealand Rugby Union’s sponsorship portfolio, to create unique opportunities for Adshel’s clients.”

Vile will also play an active role in the development of the industry as a whole through the Outdoor Media Association of New Zealand, where he is currently secretary.
