Vodafone, Lewis Road and others get in on the Easter ‘eggcitement’

Easter made its annual round last weekend, which saw many of us, young and old, stuffing ourselves with chocolate in various shapes, forms and sizes, as well as letting loose some unsightly puns (sorry). Here’s a rundown on the brands that hopped on the holiday’s bandwagon.

Vodafone gave the age old celebration a modern twist with a social media Easter egg hunt.

Filmed in the Auckland winter gardens, an experimental 360-degree video video allowed kiwis to forage for chocolate in the virtual world.

View the video here.

Over the long weekend it became one of Vodafone’s most engaging videos, attracting more than 250,000 views.

Vodafone head of brand and insights Louise Kuegler says the telco is delighted people enjoyed it as much as it did after it made the video as an innovative experiment and a bit of fun.

“Lots of people said it was the first time they’d ever seen a 360-degree video, and some liked it so much they watched it more than 10 times.”

Viewers were asked to use their finger or turn their smartphone to pan around the scene, trying to find as many chocolate Easter eggs as possible. All the correct answers went into draw to win one of 10 Vodafone Smart Ultra mobile phones.

Not one to miss out on the fun, Lewis Road Creamery added to Easter egg hunts with its chocolate milk bunnies.
