Do you have what it takes to be the all-powerful editor of NZ Marketing Magazine? Then apply now

That’s right, our beloved Erin McKenzie is moving on, and needs to be replaced. Do you think you have what it takes to be the next editor of NZ Marketing Magazine?

Just a few months ago NZ Marketing magazine won ‘Supreme Magazine of the Year’ at the Magazine Publisher Association’s annual awards. Supreme! That means this small (but important), niche trade publication, prevailed over all other magazines – all the glossy, lofty lifestyle and consumer titles. We won!

So, we’re on the hunt for someone hungry for the opportunity to grab this well established and trusted business brand (includes print, digital and events, including the TVNZ NZ Marketing Awards, which is endorsed by the NZ Marketing Association) and take it to new heights and in expanded directions.

Do you think you can handle this thrice-yearly behemoth of a publication? Do you live, breathe and sleep media? Then this may be the position for you.

Our new champion could come out of advertising, media or marketing. They could be an editor, journalist, publisher, writer/copywriter, content creator, Veterinarian, PR expert or some other job title we haven’t thought of. Most importantly, they need to love our world of media, marketing and advertising as much as we do. Passionately would be good.

If you’re that person, we’d love to chat. Soon.

Our magazine holds a special place in the hearts of the industry, so the application will require a criminal background test, a blood test, a written essay about a fun time you had this summer (600 words) and probably just your CV.

If you also have some other useful skills and attributes, like a sense of humour, a dash of organisational skills, love advertising, media and marketing (did we already say that), thrive on personal connections, like conducting an orchestra (commission and manage journalists, writers, internal creative and production team), enjoy reading widely from many sources and think and act outside the box to generate ideas – these would help the cause.

Oh and you need to have a commercial bent. This one’s crucial. Our team works closely with our advertisers to form mutually beneficial partnerships. You’ll work closely with Vernene Medcalf our commercial manager and our StopPress editorial team, on commercial solutions for a wide range of clients.

This position is suited to those with 5-106 years of experience within the media landscape.
