DDB nabs the ad of the month trifecta with winning VW classified

DDB took a summer quinella by winning both the December and January rounds of the newspaper ad of the month comp with its YWCA and VW ads. And now it’s claimed yet more Beetle/paper-related victory with a classified ad to promote its
Beetling campaign.

Classifieds have had it pretty tough over the past few years and the rivers of gold have well and truly dried up. But the judges— Ben Chandler, Federation; Joe Holden, Big
Communications; Greg Taylor, Ballantyne
Taylor; and Andy Hollis, Platform 29—said the ad showed how “press does support campaigns well”
and that this was a “good part of an integrated campaign that builds on
social.”

Speaking of creative
ways to use the newspapers, here are a few good’uns from a round the
world.The winning Ad of
the Month creative team will receive $250 cash with the ad sponsored by News
Works NZ into the 2013 Axis Awards. And it’s also a finalist in the e 2012/13
$10,000 Newspaper Ad of Year competition.
