Cornucopia of marketing news delivers vast array of informative delights

So many things to read about, see, enter and attend, so little time.

Effie-ing hell

Only a few days remain to enter the Effies. So do it here. Or else these stern looking marketers might dish you up a knuckle sandwich.

BOTAB

Tickets for the Battle of the Ads Bands are now on sale at the CAANZ website. And check out that cool poster. It’ll be on like Donkey Kong on Thursday 19 August at the Kings Arms Tavern, Auckland. Doors open 6:00pm, tickets are only $35 each, and eight different advertising bands will rock out and be judged by John Campbell, Andrew Fagan and Karyn Hay. There’s also a bar tab, a sausage sizzle and spot prizes.

Big Moves

Big is upping sticks and moving to Britomart, taking over the top floor of the historic Levy Building on Customs Street. Previously the 42 Below party venue Nineteen 42, the space has hosted the likes of David Beckham and Tyra Banks, has been a location for MTV News and NZ’s Next Top Model shoots and has also been the venue for various gigs.

“We apologise to the A-listers for stealing their old haunt, but we’re pretty excited about the move. It’s a cool space” says creative director Joe Holden.

“And an exciting location,” adds managing director Ant Salmon. “Britomart has been quietly and deliberately transformed into a vibrant modern precinct and we look forward to being a part of it.”

Doors open 16 August, office-warming to be advised.

Get in there

Entries for Yahoo!Xtra’s digital strategy awards close 5pm, Friday 13 August, so submit an entry in 800 words or less summarising the overall campaign, the challenge, the solution, and the results at the website.

The four quarterly winners will be eligible for the overall Y!X DSA Annual prize of $10,000 of media on Y!X plus free entry into the CAANZ Media Awards Best Use of Digital category. After the IAB failed to dish out a Bolly award in its last round of judging, they’ll be hoping for some good entries.
