Cannes Lions 2019: Special Group claims first Lion for New Zealand

Overnight Special Group picked up the first Cannes Lion for New Zealand, with ‘Shark Bait’ for Uber Eats taking a bronze in the Outdoor category.

Clemenger BBDO was also on the shortlist in the Outdoor category for the 'Belted Survivors' campaign for NZ Transport Agency, however, it failed to convert.

Local agencies also failed to convert in the Health and Wellness, Print and Publishing and Design categories, which also saw their winners announced.

The Pharma winners were also announced overnight, however, no local agencies were shortlisted.

Now in the running for a Cannes Lion are FCB and Colenso BBDO as both received mentions in the Digital Craft shortlist.

FCB’s ‘Oat the Goat’ campaign for the Ministry of Education was named as well as ‘Kupu’ for Spark by Colenso BBDO. The ‘Kupu’ app earned the agency two mentions on the list.

Also announced overnight were shortlists for Industry Craft Lions, Entertainment Lions, Entertainment Lions for Music and Entertainment Lions for Sport.

No local agencies were included in the mix.
