BCG2 gets cosy with Canon

After successfully completing initial projects through the year, BCG2 has been awarded the Canon New Zealand consumer business, which includes cameras, lenses, printers and printing consumables. It replaces Ballantyne Taylor, which maintains its role as Canon's B2B agency.

"Canon is one of the world’s top ten most trusted brands so BCG2 is privileged to be working with the brand here in New Zealand," and chief executive, executive creative director and talented photographer James Blackwood. "I’ve always loved Canon, ever since I saved up $1,700 for an A1 when I was 16. I still have that camera, so this appointment feels like coming home."

BCG2 works with the likes of Audi New Zealand, Lion Nathan New Zealand, Manukau Institute of Technology and The Kingdom of Tonga and it has been having a fair bit of success with its BCG2 Health department recently, with award-winning work for Pfizer and a new project with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.

On Monday, Whittaker’s launched its latest novelty chocolate-lolly mash up with a chocolatey answer to retro bakesale treat coconut ice. The Coconut Ice Surprise chocolate has a twist though, 20c from each block goes to Plunket – a charity which New Zealanders agree is a worthy cause. However, to relate the chocolate to the charity, Whittaker's has built the campaign around baby gender reveal parties, causing a backlash from the public who argue gender norms have expanded beyond blue for boys and pink for girls.
