Bauer Media’s Paul Dykzeul to take over Australian side of business

Bauer Media has named current New Zealand chief executive Paul Dykzeul as chief executive officer of the company across both Australia and New Zealand.

Andreas Schoo, executive board member of Bauer Media Group says Dykzeul was chosen because of his strong track record in the local market.

“Having worked extensively across both markets he understands the challenges and opportunities which exist for multi-platform magazine brands in this evolving environment,” Schoo says. “For the past nine years, he has built a strong and innovative media business and is ideally placed to bring that thinking to Bauer Media Australia.”

Dykzeul will be relocating to Sydney to take on the new role, but this is by no means his first stint in the Australian city.

Before being appointed CEO of Bauer Media New Zealand (formerly ACP Magazines) in 2007, Dykzeul spent 11 years working in the magazine industry in Sydney.

During his time in Australia, he held roles as director of international business and publisher for ACP. Prior to that he was managing director of Murdoch Magazines before moving to Pacific Magazines in 2000 where he held the position of director of international licensing and operations, and publisher.

In taking over the added responsibility of the Australian role, Dykzeul replaces Nick Chan, who has departed after only a year in charge.

At this stage, Bauer has not announced plans to appoint a replacement for Dykzeul in the local market.

He starts in the role immediately.
