Adshel dances the Charlton

Adshel has announced the appointment of Peter Charlton as its new sales director, Australia and New Zealand, replacing previous sales director Adam Butterworth who was promoted to chief executive officer of Clear Channel Singapore early this year.
Reporting to Adshel’s chief executive Steve McCarthy, Charlton, “a marathon running golfer who watches a lot of live music”, will be based in Sydney with responsibility for the strategic development of the street furniture company’s media sales and leadership of a team of over 50 sales, business development and media planning staff across Australia and New Zealand.

“It is a uniquely exciting time to join Adshel, following the introduction of MOVE in Australia,” he says. “I look forward to translating the great opportunities that the newly added accountability offers into great things for Adshel and its clients.”
Charlton, who joins Adshel from CBS Outdoor in the UK where he was sales director since March 2005, has 20 years media experience and a highly successful track record in outdoor, radio and publishing. CBS Outdoor is one of the leading outdoor companies in the UK and in the role he looked after the business’ sales strategy, annual advertising revenues and Poster Specialist contract arrangements.

Prior to that, he held various senior sales roles with Opus GWR Radio Services, Capital Radio Group and within the publishing industry.

“We are very pleased to welcome Peter into this role,” says McCarthy. “Peter’s highly successful media career, his in-depth knowledge of the outdoor industry and his proven ability to lead and create value will be invaluable in exploring new terrain and determining the future direction of our media sales business. I am confident it will be a seamless fit with the Adshel team.”

Charlton will take the helm of Adshel’s media sales once he has relocated to Sydney with his wife and son later in the year.
