Ads of the Week: 24 July

Who’s it for: ASB by With Collective

Why we like it: Even those not in the market for a house could be chanting ‘own that home’ after watching this piece. With the property market making it hard for would-be first home buyers to enter it, it’s refreshing to see an ad reflect the frustration and hard work that goes hand-in-hand with buying a house. At the same time, it’s careful not to scare those would-be first home buyers away by showing a light at the end of the tunnel with a montage of young families moving into their own home.

Who’s it for: Bayleys by ICG and Film Construction

Why we like it: There’s something sweet about watching a child putting his teacher in his place. It’s not immediately clear the ad is for Bayleys, but being a real estate company, the shot of girls whispering in the back of the class joins the dots between Bayleys and an understanding of property market — an understanding that’s greater than that of a school teacher.

Who’s it for: Vodafone by FCB

Why we like it: You can just picture it, two grandmas sitting down to brag about their grandchildren and as Evelyn expresses how she once dreaded the activity, it’s humorous to see a grandma share frustration when they’re typically portrayed as being doting towards they’re grandchildren. However, that dread is no more. Kids may cringe at the thought of being on display on their grandparent’s TVs, but Evelyn’s pride in showing off her techno-nous is well worth it.
