Ads of the Week: 2 April

Who’s it for: Subaru by BC&F Dentsu

Why we like it: Family beach holidays for a car commercial? Groundbreaking. The holiday does look idyllic though and the coastline looks lovely – plus it’s making us feel nostalgic for the height of summer now that the weather is firmly on the downward slope towards winter. Following the days of the last three cars in the beach carpark is a nice touch, and it really does make it seem that adventurous hobbies are made a lot easier with SUVs.

Who’s it for: House of Travel by in-house team

Why we like it: It’s happened to the best of us (well, not all of us – we can’t even imagine being flippant enough about travel to forget to pack the most important key to it), and it always sets off internal alarm bells when it does. Thankfully, this forgetful couple has Lucy, potentially the world’s most obliging travel agent. Aside from the fact they seem to be taking advantage of a professional relationship, it really does drive home the point that travel agents can go the extra mile for their customers.

Who’s it for:  Countdown by Greenhouse, M&C Saatchi NZ.

Why we like it: Ah, taking the religion out of religious holidays. No one does it better than the Easter Bunny (if you ignore Santa, that is). This ad focuses on the fact that Easter is the time for generosity, giving and sharing quality time together. It’s not only a chocolate-based holiday (something we can really get behind), it’s also New Zealand’s longest long weekend and Countdown is saying that no matter how we celebrate that, it can help. Definitely here for that.
