Cannes Lions 2013: Day 5

DraftFCB's having a brilliant Cannes Lions, DDB's doing better than expected and took out one of the biggest awards on the roster, and usual top performer Colenso BBDO hasn't had much to write home about. Now DDB's in line for three more awards after the release of the Film shortlist.

DDB's 'Jiggle' for Instant Kiwi (with The Sweet Shop), 'Staying up Late' for McDonald's (with Revolver) and YWCA 'Demand Equal Pay' (with Thick as Thieves) made the cut. And Saatchi & Saatchi (with Goodoil Sydney) also got its first acknowledgement for Toyota Corolla's 'Feels Good Inside'.

Whittaker's divides the court of public opinion – but all for a good cause

On Monday, Whittaker’s launched its latest novelty chocolate-lolly mash up with a chocolatey answer to retro bakesale treat coconut ice. The Coconut Ice Surprise chocolate has a twist though, 20c from each block goes to Plunket – a charity which New Zealanders agree is a worthy cause. However, to relate the chocolate to the charity, Whittaker's has built the campaign around baby gender reveal parties, causing a backlash from the public who argue gender norms have expanded beyond blue for boys and pink for girls.
