TVNZ’s director of content Jeff Latch to hang up his hat

Following more than two decades with TVNZ, director of content Jeff Latch has handed in his resignation.

Latch has spent the last 10 years in the role of director of content following a range of other key leadership roles, including head of TVNZ 1 and TVNZ 2.

About the departure, TVNZ chief executive Kevin Kenrick said: “At our heart we’re a content business and Jeff’s played a central role in TVNZ’s business successes over many years. Our track record of sustained growth in TV audience share and OnDemand reach is testament to Jeff’s leadership of our content team – the one year birthday of Duke’s successful launch being the most recent example.”

Latch will see through a number of key projects and ensure a successful transition of content team leadership before he leaves in July.

He said it’s been an enormous privilege to lead the TVNZ content team and to work for TVNZ in a variety of senior roles for over 23 years.

“The strength of TVNZ has always been its people and I wish all those passionate, dedicated and talented individuals all the very best for the future.”

TVNZ will start a recruitment process to appoint a successor shortly.

The news of Latch’s resignation follows the broadcaster’s announcement that it’s entering into consultation with its staff in relation to proposed changes that will see an overall reduction of roles in its media operations and news teams.
