Tony Mitchell appointed CEO of Marketing Association

The Marketing Association has announced Tony Mitchell as its new chief executive.

This sees Mitchell transition from the acting chief executive role that he’s held since the departure of Gill Stewart in May.

Mitchell has been an important figure at the Marketing Association, contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation over the last two year as a member of the Data and Strategic Marketing Committees, and more recently as an elected board member.

He brings extensive marketing experience to the role, having worked across New Zealand, Oceania, the UK and Europe at a number of organisations.

In addition to his role at the Marketing Association, he also chairs the board at Cycling New Zealand and serves as vice president of the Oceania Cycling Confederation.

Until April this year, Mitchell worked as a business consultant at analytics consultancy Datamine.

In the most recent edition of NZ Marketing, Mitchell outlined a three-tier strategy for the organisation, focused on professional development, enabling a connected community of marketers, and being the voice for the marketing profession.

“With ever-increasing complexity in the environment that marketers and organisations operate in, members are looking for the Marketing Association to be a partner throughout their marketing careers to help them keep ahead,” he said the article.

“To achieve this, we will work tirelessly to create a connected community of talented marketers, who can, in turn, promote and deliver marketing success in their organisations.”
