For good

Ecostore’s marketing director Melissa Fletcher is branching out from ecostore to set up her own marketing consultancy business.

After four years leading its brand transformation, Fletcher will continue to drive some key projects for the brand, but will also take on new clients.  As she puts it, her focus is “doing good work with good people” focusing on ways that “build NZ Inc—economically, environmentally and socially”.

Fletcher has worked with The Warehouse, ANZ, Westpac, Gillette and in the UK with British Telecom, Prudential and Safeway. Sheis currently working with Sir Owen Glenn’s independent inquiry into domestic violence and child abuse. And, impressed by her after-hours volunteering as a marketing consultant, Sir Owen has taken Fletcher on in a bigger capacity.

The project also involves Matt O’Sullivan’s new consultancy company, Mike O’Sullivan’s The Collective and Niki Schuck PR. And a new marketing campaign is set to be launched in the coming months.

Upping the numbers

With new clients like Westfield and The Co-Operative Bank recently added to the roster, Y&R NZ has added several new humans to the Auckland office.

Kate Murchison joins as senior account director. She has an agency background in both suiting and design, and comes to Y&R fresh from two-and-a-half years as national marketing manager for Flight Centre. She will lead the account service team on Westfield.

Natalie van Beurden joins as senior traffic manager and has returned home to New Zealand following five years abroad in creative services roles at The Campaign Palace and Wunderman in Sydney.

Annabelle Reynolds has joined as senior account manager. With a background in media, digital and agency account service, she brings eight years of varied experience to the suit team and she will work with Murchison on Westfield.

Dan Mortensen has joined as studio designer and he has returned home following three years in the UK in both agency and client side graphic design posts. He will also be working with the Westfield team.

Four young interns have also been given permanent roles within the group, with Cameron Putt joining the creative department as intermediate creative on the fashion team; Steph Cavenett joining Y&R Design as junior designer; Tina Chou joining Y&R Media as media assistant; and Bella Lau joining as account executive.

Kawasaki for breakfast

New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Guy Kawasaki will take centre stage at Air New Zealand’s third Social Media Breakfast.

As the author of twelve books including APE: Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur and Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions and with more than five million social media followers, Kawasaki is uniquely placed to offer his insights into today’s most popular social media websites.

Kawasaki will share his practical experience and expertise on how sites such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest can be used to increase marketing reach and sales conversions.

As the former chief evangelist of Apple, an Apple Fellow and special advisor to the Motorola business unit of Google, Kawasaki is able to offer valuable advice on strategic steps to create new product and service offerings.

Air New Zealand chief marketing and customer officer, Mike Tod, says Air New Zealand is a leader in the social media space and is committed to sourcing the world’s best and most innovative thinkers and speakers for its Social Media Breakfast series.

“We expect attendees to be able to take away key insights from Guy Kawasaki’s digital knowledge and management experience and be able to apply them for the benefit of their own businesses and brands.”

The third Air New Zealand Social Media Breakfast event will be held at The Langham in Auckland on 15 May 2013.  Tickets are $75 (including breakfast) and are on sale now from Ticketmaster,  www.ticketmaster.co.nz
