Boosting the leadership team

Aaron Dawson has returned to TVNZ to take up the newly created role of general manager of customer.

As part of TVNZ’s commercial leadership team, Dawson will focus on advertiser relationships and accelerating the company’s partnerships. The role will play an integral part in delivering TVNZ’s commercial revenue strategy.

Dawson has previous worked in the TVNZ sales team as media solutions manager and group business director. He joined MediaWorks in 2017 as general manager of agency sales.

Taking the lead

oOh!Media has announced the appointment of a new business manager, Kristy McLean.

In the new role,  McLean will be responsible for working across oOh!’s out of home portfolio to deliver advertisers with multiple audience-led campaign solutions to achieve their advertising objectives.

McLean is no stranger to the media industry, holding a strong background in media agency planning and audience strategy for companies including MEC, Mediacom, Dynamo and NZME.

Head of sales for oOh! New Zealand Ben Gibb says McLean’s account management and client service skills gave her a unique understanding of the agency pressure points and what was required to effectively and efficiently respond to client needs.

“We are thrilled to expand the oOh! family and have Kirsty bring her knowledge and skill set to the mix,” he said.

“Kirsty’s planning and strategy background will allow her to project an agency lens on her responses, giving her the perfect edge required to create targeted and unmissable solutions for our clients.”

Expanding its offer

99 has welcomed two new team members, Danielle Barclay, who joins as director of experience design, and Craig McKay, who joins as head of applied technology.

In her new role, Barclay will lead the brand experience offer, bringing together architecture and interiors with interactive technology in order to deliver a seamless experience to customers in physical spaces.

She was previously managing director of Designworks brand experience practice and has lead retail interiors and experiential agencies in Australia. She has over 15 years’ global experience in the field and will lead the offer as both a strategist and designer.

Meanwhile, McKay specialises in connecting creative ideas with emerging technologies and works end to end from user experience design through to delivery and interaction analysis.

He has over 10 years global interactive design experience, and over the past four years has lead teams of developers and creative technologists delivering experiences around the world.

Barclay and McKay first worked together at DDB NZ in 2007 when Barclay established the agencies first retail experience offer known as Retail Engine. They then went on to work for TRO, the UK’s largest experiential agency, launching it in Australia and working with bluechip clients including Google, Telstra, BMW and Samsung.

Since joining 99, the pair have been part of delivering a number of key projects including Spotify experience kiosks for Spark, Mazda Game Face AR experience as well as leading the design of instore experiences for the new Spark concept stores launching later this year.
