MBM has made some significant changes to its management capability that draw on the expertise and performance from within the existing team.

Deborah Brown, who has been with the agency since day one, and Penelope Burns, who joined in 2016, have both been promoted to client service director.

Meanwhile, Annabelle Wilkinson has been promoted to general manager Wellington, in a move that acknowledges the relationships she has cultivated in the capital.

Anna Woods joined MBM from PHDiQ in 2015 as senior digital director to lead MBM’s digital media efforts, while Chris Carter now heads MBM’s analytics and data science team having joined MBM in 2016 from a large e-commerce company in USA.

The promotions are expected to lighten the load on the three directors: Matt Bale, Alysha Delany and Sean McCready.

McCready said the media agency model is evolving rapidly and it wanted to bring a diversity of outlook, experience and skills to the management table to help shape its future.

“With our rapid expansion and business growth we’ve addressed the need for a wider management structure – giving our team the benefit of increased strategic and operational support. At the heart of the change is the fact that we have both sought and retained the best senior talent to keep delivering successful communications and media technology solutions for our clients.”

Out of home calls

Adshel NZ has appointed two new account managers to its Auckland sales team.

Claudia Plowman joins from Bauer to take on the role of senior account manager. She held a number of roles at Bauer over nine years with the company and most recently she was the commercial brand manager for the launch of Paperboy.

Plowman has extensive experience developing and delivering integrated campaign solutions for clients across a range of sectors, which will be invaluable to Adshel.

Meanwhile, Robbie Coshan joins Adshel from media agency world, where he most recently worked for FCB. Prior to that, he was at Ikon Communications where he worked on a wide range of high profile brands, including some of Adshel’s largest advertisers. He is a big believer in the power of out-of-home media and his agency-side experience will help ensure Adshel can stay relevant with its key client-base.

Plowman and Cosha will report to recently appointed Auckland group sales manager Christie Tanner. About the appointments, Tanner said it’s timely to have the extra resource join with the imminent expansion of the Adshel Live digital network.

“Claudia and Robbie come from different media backgrounds but as our business changes we’re really looking to diversify our skill set and bring in people with new perspectives and experience, to ensure we continue to innovate and improve the way we operate.”

A trio of appointments

APN Outdoor has three new team members in its agency sales team, with Dale Cummins, Krystina Ivicevich and Ben Poole getting on board.

Cummins joins as media director, bringing with him local and international industry experience. Having headed up the trading team at Ikon New Zealand, his expertise will be instrumental in driving tangible results and ensuring the best practice and the most innovative outdoor opportunities are made available to clients.

Joining as account director is Ivicevich, who has experience across both creative and media agencies. Most recently she worked as integration manager at Fairfax. In her new role, she will continue to lead client focus, innovation and drive results for agencies and advertisers.

And rounding out the new faces is Poole, who’s stepping in as an account manager. He joins from OMD and brings a sound understanding of agency operations across multiple categories including FMCG, entertainment and technology.

About the new appointments, sales director Gary Rosewarne said: “APN Outdoor is set for an even more exciting second half of 2017 and we look forward to the bolstered team delivering a new level of service, enthusiasm and expertise to our clients.”

A new recruit

Yellow has a new marketing manager of content and creative in Marcus Wild, who joins from 90 Seconds where he served as general manager.

In the role, Wild will be responsible for building the company’s marketing and content platform for SMEs and consumers.

About it, Wild said: “This is an incredible opportunity to work with a historic brand as it evolves to a new kind of business. It’s essentially a big corporate that is entering the content scene and engaging with its customers and New Zealand consumers at a higher level than ever before, and I’m ambitious about where we’re taking Yellow.”

Yellow chief marketing officer Darren Linton said it’s a privilege to have someone of Wild’s calibre join the Yellow team.

“He has helped lead iconic digital companies which have reinvented industries, and his expertise and deep knowledge of digital storytelling and audience connection will be critical to achieving the big goals we have for the business.”

As well as 90 Seconds, Wild has also worked at Xero (as global video channel manager) and Fairfax Digital (as head of video).
