“We’re excited to have Andrew join the team armed with an impressive background in data-driven marketing and look forward to the input and value he will add to our business and team”.

Of his appointment, Gilbert says he is looking forward to joining the passionate environment at Verizon Media as well as being surrounded by a team that wants to achieve ground-breaking things.

A fresh face

Marketing intelligence company MiQ has announced the appointment of Jason Scott in the newly created role of CEO, Australia New Zealand. Scott comes to MiQ with a hugely impressive background, spanning two decades in the industry both locally and internationally.

His most recent role in Australia was as chief executive of Allure Media. Prior to this, he was located internationally and held senior management positions at Microsoft including general manager, advertising for Asia, and general manager of the software giant’s global agency business, based in Seattle.

Scott has also held general management and commercial lead roles at ninemsn, and various agency groups including Havas.

A proven and established leader of the advertising, media, marketing and publishing industries, Scott will be responsible as CEO for leading growth, culture and strategic vision across the Australian business.

He will report into MiQ global president, Richard Dunmall.

Dunmall says the team is excited to bring Scott on board to lead MiQ’s next phase of growth in such a key market.

“He has great digital credentials, having run successful businesses like Allure Media and ninemsn during times of big expansion, and is a well-known, respected and liked character across the Australian and New Zealand markets. I am confident that our ANZ clients will enjoy even stronger business outcomes as a result of Jason’s leadership.”

Scott says since launching in 2010, MiQ has consistently proven itself as a force to be reckoned with in all operative markets, “guided by its ambition to be the world’s leading independent marketing intelligence company.

“Australia and New Zealand are crucial markets in MiQ’s strategic plans, and being at the centre of that growth is both a great honour and a great opportunity. I’m thrilled to join a team that prioritises professionalism and delivers incredible work.”

A thrilling move

Alan Oliver has been hired as commercial director at We Are Frank, a significant segue back into the digital advertising market after four years focused on recruitment.

Oliver says the offer from the burgeoning digital ad-tech and creative company was too good to pass up.

“To come back to digital advertising, especially for a company like We Are Frank is a thrill. What I’m most excited about is working for and building a Kiwi owned company that is absolutely focussed on the New Zealand market, without any overseas influences or restrictions.”

We Are Frank founder Benjamin Searancke who created the role specifically for Oliver, describes the appointment as a new phase in the company’s growth.

“Alan has an exceptional reputation having held senior positions within the NZ digital advertising market for over a decade. Six months ago it would have been difficult to persuade someone of Alan’s calibre to re-enter the market but We Are Frank’s roadmap to success is obvious now. We now have the customer base and capital to capture best in market talent and we’re delighted to have Alan come on board. It’s a testament to where we’re at as a business and how quickly we’ve got there.”

Originally from the United Kingdom, Oliver’s sales and business development career has spanned over 20 years and covered various sectors including mobile, web, data, content and technology.

Former head of business development for Virgin Radio, Oliver arrived in New Zealand in 2009 to take up a role as account director for The Radio Bureau. He then became sales director for Valued Interactive Media, business development director for The Radio Network, before managing the country for Snakk Media. There he delivered a series of innovative mobile ad campaigns that went ‘beyond the banner’, including one on the most Android platform that used a sensory layer of vibration, at that time a market-first.

Oliver moved into recruitment in 2015, setting up his own company EQ Recruitment and most recently was Talent Sourcing to Fisher and Paykel and Orion Health.

Standby for January, when he’ll be looking to add to the growing We Are Frank team.

“I’ll be looking for team players keen to push the boundaries of mobile digital advertising. I want to create the best work culture possible – the company down the road that brings new technology and ideas to market and then buys you a pint afterwards. If it’s cool, we want to do it.”
