Partnering up

TRA has appointed two new partners to its management team.

Karin Glucina and Shaun Fitzgibbon

Karin Glucina and Shaun Fitzgibbon are moving from their roles as business directors, where they led the TRA business across a diverse range of clients, including Air New Zealand, Mercury, New Zealand Post, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council and Fonterra.

They join TRA’s existing partner team of Andrew Lewis, Amber Coulter, Connon Bray and Antony Ede.

“We’re really excited to bring two outstanding and long term members of TRA into our Partner team”, says TRA managing director Andrew Lewis. “TRA has grown considerably in the last couple of years, and expanding our Partner base will enable TRA to continue developing in new and exciting directions as insight takes on an even bigger role in organisations.”

In her new capacity, Glucina will be working on key strategic initiatives for TRA, developing the TRA team and furthering business objectives.

Fitzgibbon’s focus will be on business performance and data analytics.

In addition to these appointments, TRA has also recruited a new business director in Andrew Robertson who joins from his previous role as principal advisor for Inland Revenue’s analytics and insight group.

Andrew Robertson

Robertson is a social sector specialist who has worked both for and within government over the past 11 years. His experience spans a wide range of research, including marketing and communications, behaviour change, corporate reputation, customer experience and political polling.

“It’s great to have Andrew on board”, says TRA managing director Andrew Lewis. “Andrew brings a great amount of energy and enthusiasm, as well as a strong background in the insights space which enables him to cut through complexity and deliver a clear path forward for his clients.”

Taking charge

Ryan Jordan and Jacquie Bennett

Dentsu Aegis Network has promoted Jacquie Bennett to the newly created role of group head of strategy.

With a career spanning 15 years in advertising, including 10 within strategy roles, Bennett joined Carat as strategy director in 2014 with the focus of her role expanding quickly. In the new position of group head of strategy, she will join the Dentsu Aegis Network NZ leadership team with responsibility for providing strategic direction for clients and influencing change and collaboration.

Speaking of the appointment, chief executive officer of Dentsu Aegis Network NZ, Robert Harvey, says: “As our group continues to grow and evolve, it is a well-deserved and natural next step for Jacquie to be promoted into this role. I love having Jacquie in our business. She is super smart and highly collaborative, and I know she will continue to add great value to our group and clients in the years to come.”

Joining Bennett in the strategic team will be Ryan Jordan who joined Dentsu Aegis Network on 14 August as strategy director. Jordan joins from Contagion where he was strategic planning director. Prior to that, he was communications strategist at Ikon Communications Sydney.

“I’m thrilled to have Ryan as a new addition to our strategy team,” says Bennett. “He has a unique skill set in his ability to work across both media and creative strategy and will add a huge amount of value to the group. The Dentsu Aegis Network has experienced great momentum in the past 12 months, and it has been exciting and a privilege to shape a strategy product around that growth.”

Closer connection

Post production company Toybox has appointed Sam McCauley as executive producer.

McCauley is already executive producer of Toybox’s sister company, Flying Start Pictures. This appointment will see him fulfilling the role across both companies.

McCauley joined Flying Start as a producer 10 years ago. He immediately began navigating the company through the changing production landscape by introducing more direct clients while continuing to service long-term agency clients.

As well as their continuing work on several international long-form animation and FX projects, Toybox also provides colour grading, editorial and VFX services for film-makers, drama and TVC directors.

Managing director Nanette Miles comments: “The New Zealand market remains important to us and Sam’s appointment will ensure we continue to deliver the high levels of service our clients want. Sam is a respected and experienced Producer who has played an important role in helping us deliver complex projects to a range of clients under all kinds of circumstances. Placing Sam across both companies means all our clients can now benefit from his extensive production experience and client focused attitude, regardless of the project.”

In related news, Flying Start and Toybox have also appointed Rachel Emery as a producer.  She brings with her a wealth of experience gained through a mixture of television network, agency and production company roles in Auckland and London.

Go Media goes forward

Due to a combination of business growth and a drive to provide clients with better service, Go Media has employed Whitney Mackey as an account executive.

Mackey will be based in the Auckland office and along with servicing agency clients, she will develop Go Media’s brand presence and profile. She has most recently been an account manager at TVNZ, and prior that at Multi Channel Network (MCN) in Australia where she represented a suite of media platforms including digital outdoor.

General Manager Simon Teagle says that Mackey’s reputation along with her terrific energy and drive to succeed made her the stand-out candidate.

“Whitney is joining Go Media at an exciting time; our digital site roll-out plan is accelerating and audience measurement in the form of Calibre is launching shortly,” Teagle says. “We look forward to her contribution to building strong agency relationships, and Go Media’s brand reputation as a leading OOH media company.”

She starts at Go Media on Monday, 21 August.

Crossing the floor

Reuben Wiremu has been appointed a senior marketing manager at TVNZ.

In joining the broadcaster, Wiremu crosses the floor from MediaWorks, where he most recently served as a marketing manager on the entertainment side of the business.

Before his three-year stint at MediaWorks, Wiremu worked across various roles at Lotto NZ over a six-year period.

He has been in his new role at TVNZ since August.
