Mitre 10 appoints Jules Lloyd-Jones as general manager of marketing

Mitre 10 has appointed Jules Lloyd-Jones to the position of general manager of marketing following Dave Elliott’s departure to the US.

Lloyd-Jones joins from Foodstuffs New Zealand where she held the group brand director role for the past five years. She’s also gained marketing and business experience from working at Telstra Clear, Air New Zealand and McDonald’s.

In the announcement, Mitre 10 CEO Neil Cowie said she has an outstanding record of achievement and is a strategic and creative marketer who brings significant experience in brand, sponsorship, digital and retail marketing.

“She has a proven ability to deliver outstanding results by tuning into customers’ needs and ensure a brand stays true to its values,” Cowie said

“Jules has significant experience working in a co-operative environment and is a highly skilled marketer so I am absolutely delighted to welcome her to Mitre 10.”

In 2015, Lloyd-Jones was awarded Marketer of the Year at the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards. The same accolade was given to her predecessor Dave Elliott in 2016.

The former general manager of marketing departed Mitre 10 in March and is now senior vice president of marketing for True Value Company in Chicago.

Elliott had been with Mitre 10 since 2010 and during that time was responsible for a major marketing transformation. He oversaw the introduction of the educational ‘Easy As’ YouTube channel and later, an On Demand content platform.

He also saw the successful launch of proprietary brands for Mitre 10, including Number 8, Nouveau, Job Mate, and the successful introduction of one-to-one engagement programmes The Home Improvement Club and The Gardening Club.

In his entry form for the Marketer of the Year award, his colleagues described him as “a change agent, transforming the role and influence of marketing” and “a passionate evangelist for customer-centric marketing.”

Lloyd-Jones will move into the position in late July.
