MediaCom names Matthew Vogts as managing director

MediaCom has a new managing director for New Zealand in Matthew Vogts, who’s been promoted from the role of head of client services.

Vogts has been with MediaCom for three years and since then has been a key part of the leadership team. He will now oversee both the Wellington and Auckland offices and join the MediaCom AUNZ executive leadership team.

CEO of MediaCom AUNZ Sean Seamer said over the past few years it’s been very active in senior recruitment across Australia and New Zealand.

“We know what good looks like and Matt is not only the best internal person for the role but the best person in the market, period,” Seamer said in a statement.

“Matt embodies everything that we look for in a managing director; client centricity, a focus on cultural leadership as well as a passion for our craft. His unique blend of drive and humility will see him take an already strong business to the next level.”

COO of GroupM New Zealand Chris Riley added it’s a great outcome for both Vogts and for MediaCom.

“Matt is passionate, smart and has a very clear vision for continuing the success of MediaCom in New Zealand. It’s fantastic we’ve been able to appoint someone who is already so highly respected by the team and clients. A great addition the GroupM leadership table.”

Vogts takes over the managing director role from Nigel Douglas, who earlier this month took over the chief executive role at OMD. That position was vacated by Kath Watson who announced her resignation also this month.

Vogts steps into the role on 1 August and said he’s looking forward to leading the agency.
