Group Client Director

Overview of job

As a Group Client Director you are responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and the broader Client Leadership team within that mix. Your core responsibility is to understand your client's business implicitly across all aspects of its operation. This is not limited to just media & advertising. You will work with the client team to unearth & develop business challenges into solutions that will drive their business forward. Group Client Directors are the gatekeepers of the client's experience when working with Mediacom.

Leadership

First class leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to build and lead large teams and clients through prosperous and challenging periods. Sets the overall group vision for how the team delivers for the clients and the agency.

Thought provocation

Proven experience ideally in more than 5 categories throughout their career and expertise beyond the core craft of media. Taking this experience and expertise to share lessons with clients and our own people. Leads the charge with new ideas and generating excitement around opportunities.

Media knowledge

Capable of talking expertly to any client on the spot about any media channel. Has a detailed point of view on the latest trends and market dynamics. Regularly meets with key media partners/publishers/Content & Partnerships to identify and drive major opportunities across the group

Strategic capability

Mobilises their team around the big bets to solve business problems. Must know what great work looks like and how to deliver it. Provides mentoring to the team to ensure that our strategic principles live throughout all the work we do

Project management skills

A relaxed and detailed approach to managing projects. A role model for attention to detail and organisational capability. Assumes ultimate accountability for the use of Mediacom systems and processes.

Marketing capability

A relaxed and detailed approach to managing projects. A role model for attention to detail and organisational capability. Assumes ultimate accountability for the quality of work across the group

Commercial understanding

Imperative that our group client directors fully understand agency level commercials – Xaxis, gmi, client forecasts with relevance to p&l

New business skills

Must be capable of leading a new business pitch/defence in isolation when required to do so.

Soft skills

Integral part of the role is leading others and being someone that holds respect. Earned through displaying core values listed above. Must be able to walk the walk

Education New Zealand has done well to promote that side of us, answering the tough question for brave students tripping it halfway across the world to study. 

Who is it for? The Mental Health Foundation for Huffer 

Why we like it: Truly a proper way to incorporate a music video into a brand story for more than just novelty (Looking at you Air New Zealand). Mental health is a conversation that is only getting more important to have, yet brands can walk a fine line between helping, and merely using it as a conversation starter for the label. Huffer, however, has nailed it. The music video has the main focus of people at its heart, showing respect and proper concern for mental health awareness. 

Who is it for? Colenso BBDO for BNZ

Why we like it: You can't go wrong injecting terribly adorable children into a wholesome family story. BNZ does well here to show how banking does connect to our personal growth and future. Personally, when my older sister and I got our own rooms she installed her own padlock to keep me out. 

Who is it for? DDB for AA Insurance 

Why we like it: I beg for DDB to send me the behind the screens. How was this done? How does the curtain move with the unicorn? How do the blocks crumble under the T-Rex? I have so many questions. Regardless of my limited knowledge of green screen and post-film production, it is a great ad, that simply delivers the message that we need insurance because humans are clumsy, boisterous, messy creatures with ugly, smashable, lamps in our homes.
